Job Description: |
The Corporate Market Research Department, located
Pleasanton, California,
has an opening for a Market Research Manager.
Qualifications:
5-10 years forecasting or site selection experience (preferably within
the retail grocery industry) utilizing a Gravity Model. Working
knowledge of real estate trends in Safeway operating areas.
Understanding of statistical concepts, correlative relationships,
regression analysis and analogous comparisons. (i.e. Technical and
practical background in Real Estate Research)
B.A. degree, Master’s preferred
Excellent written and analytical skills.
Ability to handle numerous projects simultaneously and capacity to
prioritize in an often demanding environment
Working knowledge of GIS programs, preferably MapInfo or ArcView
Self starter with solid people skills.
Understanding of research methodology covering convenience stores, fuel
centers and/or neighborhood/community shopping centers helpful.
Computer literate—Microsoft Office, mapping programs, gravity model,
etc.
Aptitude to develop creative “value added” background material for
presentation to management
Flexible and can do attitude in fluid environment
Key Responsibilities include, but are not limited to:
Develop sales estimates (and supporting documentation) for proposed new
business, expansion and remodel projects including retail grocery, fuel
centers and shopping centers.
Key participant in developing in-house statistical modeling in support
of forecasting activities.
Undertake detailed field observation of marketplace and competitive
conditions (20%-30% travel)
Meet with senior management, assist in real estate strategy sessions at
Division level and develop actionable recommendations.
Perform miscellaneous real estate and competitive research.
Present various finding to Senior Management.
Build working relationships with Division to support their Real Estate
development activities.
Take ownership of real estate projects from site identification through
opening and beyond. Involvement in submittal process through post
opening performance review.
Salary will be commensurate with experience and qualifications.
